Craftsman Redux
As a craftsman himself, it was only fitting that this design (meant as a downsize from a big antique with land and barns) would take on a Craftsman character.
With the kids moved out, this couple decided it was time to relocate to a nearby site, where they could take advantage of first-floor living, a perfect setting for passive-solar design, and size their house to be both generous for family visits and yet provide coziness for just the two of them most of the time.
First things first, however, this woodworking gentleman needed to build his workshop, with custom sliding doors, a full solar array, tools galore, and a dust collection system. Partly this was to provide room to work on the custom ceiling of the sun-room milled from a felled tree on site.
